The Architectural Series
"Marcia Lea's work has a special appeal to architects, not just the subject matter of her paintings, many of which do use strong architectural images, but the use of light to define space.  This is directly analogous to an architect's creative approach, the celebration of space by the manipulation of light, the dynamic that gives architecture its three dimensionality.  That same sense of depth and continuity pervades Marcia Lea's art.

It is all the more remarkable that these contrasts of light and shade are achieved through the medium of watercolour, at the same time revealing the soft textures of stone and polished wood.  Like the places she has chosen as subjects, her paintings ask to be revisited time and time again."
